A Review of HTC 8S

The first thing that you will notice about HTC 8S is its bold colours. This phone is available in red, blue, black and grey colour. Unlike HTC 8X, this phone has got a dual-tone look. HTC 8S has got some really good specifications which makes it a great device. It comfortably fits in the hands of the user and weighs just 113 grams. Also, it is much cheaper as compared to 8X.

HTC 8S is made up of polycarbonate body that provides it a rubbery feel. The screen is covered by Gorilla Glass, the rear is rounded and the edges are highly tapered, thereby providing it a sleek appearance. HTC 8X runs on a powerful 1GHz dual core Snapdragon processor. The display is sharp 4-inch and is backed with a resolution of 720 pixels. The device comes along with 1 GB RAM and 4 GB of internal memory storage. You can expand the memory to up to 32 GB using a microSD card. There is a lock button given on the top of the phone, whereas a volume rocker is present on the right side. Also, there is a dedicated button for camera at the bottom panel of the device. The dual-tone space which is there on the rear side is basically a pop-off panel through which you can access a microSD slot. This pop-off panel is easy to slide and remove.

HTC has loaded some software of its own in this phone. The Live Tile feature of the phone behaves actually like an Android widget and displays time, forecast and temperature. HTC 8S has got a 5MP camera that is capable of shooting at 720 pixel videos also. The Photo Enhance app of this phone largely resembles Instagram app and allows you to edit the photos and add various effect to them. As it doesn’t have a front camera, you cannot make video calls or video chats in this phone. The external speaker of HTC 8S is among the best in class. The headphones that you will get along with the device are equally good. However, the volume boosting amplifiers are not as good as they are in HTC 8X. Another good thing about this great smartphone is that it comprises of a microUSB port that helps in the easy transfer of files and folders. The 1700 mAh battery provides a decent talk-time and standby time to the phone users.
