Samsung has come with a mid-range Android phone – Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 to build on the success of its predecessor Galaxy Ace. The newer version still runs on Android 2.3 but Samsung has made some major improvements on the hardware front.

Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 measures 118.3 X 62.2 X 10.5 mm and weighs 122g. The phones looks attractive and is quite compact and lightweight. On the front side, the phone sports a 3.8 inches PLS TFT capacitive touchscreen display which has a resolution of 480 X 800 pixels and supports up to 16 millions colors. The interface of the phone is powered by Samsung’s proprietary TouchWiz version 4.0. Other features include multitouch, touch-sensitive controls, etc. It also has a proximity sensor and accelerometer sensor. The handset comes with a 5 megapixel camera which is the least one can expect in smartphones these days. The camera can take high resolution images of up to 2592 X 1944 pixels and record videos of 720 pixels at 30 frames per second. Other features include autofocus, LED flash, Geo-tagging, smile detection, face detection and much more. A secondary VGA camera is also provided at the front side for video conferencing.

Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 is powered by a Dual-core 800 MHz processor and runs on Google’s Android version 2.3 operating system. It has an internal memory of 4GB and 768 MB RAM. A memory card slot is also provided which support microSD cards up to 32 GB. Popular apps such as Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Calendar, Google Talk, Picassa are pre-installed on the phone. Users can also download apps from Google Play. For entertainment, a music and video player is provided which supports all major file formats. Messaging features include threaded view SMS, MMS and E-mail. A dedicated Email app is provided which allows you to sync any of your existing email accounts. Users can add multiple email accounts and access them from a single location. Connectivity features include GPRS, EDGE, Wifi, Bluetooth version 3.0 with A2DP and microUSB version 2.0. Users can access the internet using the pre-installed web browser. Other web browsers such as Opera Mini, Firefox, etc. can be downloaded from Google Play if needed. Other applications on the phone include compass, image editor, document editor, FM radio with RDS, calculator and much more.

Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 comes with a standard Li-Ion 1500 mAh battery which offers a stand-by time of 670 hours (2G)/ 640 hours (3G) and talk time of up to 16 hours 20 mins (2G)/ 7 hours 30 mins (3G).
