Sony Xperia Z Review

Sony made a wise decision to switch to the Android platform a couple of years ago and ever since then it is continuously working to improve its offerings. The manufacturer has tried to make its high end models much better, however they have faced a stiff competition from various competitors including iPhone and Samsung Galaxy Series.

Sony Xperia Z is a new offering by Sony that consists of a powerful hardware which is encased in a beautiful design. Apart from this, Xperia Z has got a top notch display, latest OS and a superb camera, further adding to its appeal. This new flagship model by Sony is all set to overpower the dominant species in this mobile phone segment. You will be impressed by the beautiful glass body of Xperia Z. Unlike earlier design, Sony has restrained from using soft touch plastic in the rear, instead it has used an all-glass design. The glassy appearance provides a more striking look to the device. Also, with thickness of just 7.9 mm it’s really thin and comfortable to hold. If you compare the looks of Xperia Z with other android devices, you will see that Sony has managed to overcome various designs.

With a huge display of 5 inches, it is quite understandable that Xperia Z is huge. Only the volume rocker and power key is located around the sides of the phone. Even though they could have been a bit better, but that doesn’t mean they are bad at all. It’s just that these key lacks a “click” feel when they are pressed. As the handset is IP 57 certified, it is well protected from dust and can be immersed in up to 1 foot in water for 30 minutes. This certification makes Sony Xperia Z a rugged phone. Until now such rugged features were seen only in the lower end models; however Sony is trying to boost its reliability by incorporating such features in higher end phones as well. The screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 is quite attractive and comes with a super high pixel density of 441 ppi. The manufacturer has implemented the Mobile BRAVIA 2 engine technology in the device which helps to enhance some of the setting so as to make the media content much better. The operating system installed is Android 4.1 Jelly Bean which is powered by Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset and runs on 2 GB RAM.
