Sony has introduced the Xperia Tablet Z in the CES event held in Las Vegas. This tablet weighs 1.09 pounds, measures 0.27 inches in thickness that makes it stylish, sleek, and attractive to look at. Even though the Xperia Z is a 10 inch tablet, it is still thinner than the iPad Mini. Xperia Z is powered with quad core processor for good performance and the screen is capable of HD display. Additionally, just like the Xperia Z Smartphone this tablet too is water-resistant and dustproof. It will be available in black and white models around spring this year.
Let us find out more about this amazingly thin tablet.
Under the hood
The Sony Xperia Z tablet runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, this also includes some added apps. You will be surprised to discover the Walkman music app that has a pre-defined visualizer, an in-built photo editing software and an app for slideshow that selects music automatically during a slideshow. The Xperia Z runs on quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor that is clocked at 1.5GHz. It has a 2 GB RAM capable of providing good mobile gaming experience and easy multi-tasking.
Display, Camera and Battery
When it comes to the display, the visuals are undoubtedly crisp, rich color in HD 10.1-inch LED-backlit LCD with a resolution of 1920 x 1200p. Additionally, it is powered with the Mobile Bravia Engine 2 by Sony. You will be easily able to make way for your media and content storage in the inbuilt 32GB internal storage, there is also an option of memory expansion with a micro SD slot.
Xperia Z tablet includes two cameras, the primary camera is located at the rear with 8.1MP, powered with an Exmor R sensor for capturing images in low light. Another 2MP camera is located at the front of the phone for facilitating video chat. It also has virtual surround sound speakers besides support for LTE and NFC.
The power comes from an amazing 6000mAh battery pack that is non-removable. However, if we compare it with its rivals like Nexus 10 or the iPad, in the current-gen you will find it a bit less. Still, Sony has managed to fit all features in its thin, stylish and sleek tablet balancing portability and endurance. It will be able to survive a day’s use without having to charge the tablet. Another thing is that it only weighs 496 grams and is 6.9mm thick. While comparing it to rivals like iPad mini measuring 7.2mm in thickness and iPad with 9.4mm thickness, the Sony Experia Z is definitely slimmer and sleeker in design.
Sony has come out with the Xperia Z tablet to introduce the best offering on the Android platform. This tablet is truly the next level in Android technology. However, as for now the company has announced that the tablet will be available in the versions, Wi-Fi with LTE and a Wi-Fi only version. Other aspects like the 4G compatibility and pricing have not yet been revealed by Sony.
